Moto3 San Marino: tweede pole voor Folger

Voor de tweede keer dit seizoen heeft de Duitser Jonas Folger zich op de pole position gekwalificeerd. De Mapfre Aspar Kalex KTM coureur reed in de kwalificatie voor de San Marino Moto3 Grand Prix een tijd van 1'42.707 en was daarmee zeshonderdste seconde sneller dan Alex Rins, terwijl Maverick Vinales de derde en laatste plaats op de eerste startrij voor zich op wist te eisen.

Het hele weekend leek er geen maat op Alex Rins, de gedurende het seizoen alleen maar sterker is gaan rijden en in de vrije training de rest van het veld had gedomineerd. Rins leek vandaag opnieuw op weg naar de pole, maar dat was buiten Jonas Folger gerekend die halverwege de kwalificatie onder Rins' tijd door wist te duiken.

Tegen het eind van de kwalificatie verbeterde Folger zijn eigen tijd tot 1.42.707, ook Rins verbeterde zijn eigen tijd maar kwam 0.061 seconden te kort om Folger van de pole position te verdringen. Marverick Vinales was best of the rest, maar moest wel bijna een halve seconde op Folger en Rins toegeven. Voor Jasper Iwema liep de kwalificatie op een teleurstelling uit. De RW Racing GP coureur kwalificeerde zich op de 33e plaats, zijn slechtste kwalificatie sinds San Marino 2009.
