Thomas Luthi heeft in Phillip Island zijn derde pole position van het seizoen gerealiseerd. De Garage Plus Interwetten coureur was 0,059 seconde sneller dan Mattia Pasini, terwijl Sam Lowes ondanks twee crashes op 0.065 seconde naar de derde plaats op de grid greep.
